NAVIGOMES – Navegação e Comércio, Lda, exclusive representative in Portugal of the Spanish Shipping Company (Canary Islands) NAVIERA-ARMAS informs the public of the new regular ferry services between the ports of Portimão, in Algarve, Funchal, in Madeira Island, and Las Palmas and Tenerife, connecting all other Canary Islands.
It’s a regular passenger, car and freight service, duly authorized for a minimum period of two years. The departure is every Sunday from the Port of Portimão arriving at Port of Funchal the following Monday, after only 21 crossing hours (around 45 km per hour). Leaves that Port on that Monday and arrives at the ports of Las Palmas (and Tenerife afterwards) the following Tuesday, after 12 crossing hours (by night).
The motor vessel “Volcán de Tijarafe” is new (left the shipyard last April). It has 54 meters length and a capacity to 1.000 passengers, 600 vehicles, 206 beds in cabins and airplane-like seats to passengers not wanting to spend the night in the cabin. The ferry has a pool, a buffet and a bar service and live entertainment.
The vessel is extraordinary fast, with two machines 15.000 HP each, allowing a connection between ports according to schedule. This is a new and original service for it’s the first time a regular service is created for passengers, car and trucks, between the Continent, Madeira and Canary Island.
NAVIGOMES and NAVIERA–ARMAS are pleased to inform the launch of this service on the 15th June, leaving from the port of Portimão at 12:00 h and heading for the port of Funchal (arrival on the 16th at 09:00h).
